Ahoj! I was in Prague for the first time a few weeks ago and, wow, what a place! We stayed in Prague 7 which is one of Prague’s smallest districts, stretching along the left bank of the Vltava, just the right distance away from the Old Town and the flocks of tourists. Also, Prague 7 is the coolest neighbourhood so we were not short of great bars, museums and, most importantly, cafes where we could work from during our time in the city.
We’ve shortlisted the best cafes in Prague 7 to work from, with speedy wifi and good coffee to help your creative juices flow. We also compiled a list of cafes we’d loved to have gone to but didn’t have the chance to visit.
Dos Mundos is a friendly cafe/roastery where every detail is thought of carefully, from how their beans are sourced to how the coffee is served. To complement their own exclusive blend, there’s a mouth-watering cake and small bites selection to keep your energy levels up while you type away on your laptop. Dos Mundos’ cosy interior decor is clean and modern featuring graffitied walls, table tops with engraved world maps on and swings. That’s right, swings for you to sit on.
I know, it’s not very practical when you’re working but they do look awesome. So to ensure you get the best spot to do some work, head right to this booth at the back, however, it can get a bit dark there towards the end of the day. For the caffeine addicts, there’s also a little shop where you can buy coffee-related products for you to stock up on.

We went hunting for a nice coffee shop for a change of scenery after a few days locked in our Airbnb doing some work. As we headed towards another cafe, the cute croissant-shaped neon sign on
Further down the corridor, there’s a roastery room on the right, stairs leading down to the bathrooms on the left and a lounge-style area with mood lighting at the back. Their food and drink menu is varied and a treat to one’s tastebuds plus they serve late breakfast too, which is a bonus.

Ye’s Kafe is a two-floor multifunctional space that runs a coffee shop below an art studio. So, understandably, this place is as trendy as it can be while it feels very homely, like having a cuppa at a hipster friend’s living room. The cafe gets a good amount of light during the day so if you mind squinting a bit to see your laptop screen, bring your sunglasses or avoid going there from mid-afternoon onwards. The only downside is that there are just a few seating spots available and, although, on the more expensive side, their coffee and cakes are pretty good.

Very popular with locals, I’d risk saying that Mo-ha-ji Cafe and Wine Bar is probably the least hipster cafe in the neighbourhood but nonetheless, still inviting. Tucked away on a side street away from the main road’s hustle and bustle, this homey cafe has a pretty laid-back atmosphere, serving decent food and drinks at fair prices. Similar to other coffee shops in the area, they roast their own blend and the one-man staff looks after the customers well.

We can’t wait to return to Prague to check these other cafes out. If you happen to be in Prague 7 and get the chance to visit these cafes, do let us know your thoughts in the comments.
Unfortunately, we left it a bit late looking into the recommendations made by our Airbnb host, so we missed out on checking out Alchymista which is a family-owned retro cukrárna (or cake shop in Czech) that has a lovely outdoor back garden seating area.

This small chain of bakeries, or pekařství, is the equivalent of a posher Greg’s. This place only has a couple of tables so it can be tricky to get a seat. We tried a couple of times to find a spot but on both occasions, I ended up leaving with a takeaway poppy seed pastry instead.

I was walking past this place on a sunny spring day when I noticed a few people eating in the sunshine whilst on their laptops. It’s more a gastropub rather than a cafe and is situated on the grounds of the Academy of Fine Arts. It’s a decent place to get some cheap food and get your laptop out.

Another recommendation from our host that we missed out on, Cafe Jedna is located within the Czech National Gallery building and is in a stunning minimalistic open space.

This ones a bit more out of the way, but worth the effort. Bistro DOX+ is another stylish cafe with an outdoor area that is part of the Centre for Contemporary Arts.
