Located in the capital of the beautiful island of Mallorca, Meliá Palma Bay Hotel is a modern 4-star hotel that offers its guests a range of luxurious facilities and services, such as a fitness centre, an outdoor swimming pool and a spa.
Equipped with modern amenities, the hotel has a variety of spacious and beautifully decorated guest rooms and suites, with some featuring a balcony and sea view.
Just a few steps away from the beach and a short walk from the charming Old Town, Meliá Palma Bay is the perfect base for soaking up in the sun or exploring all that Palma de Mallorca has to offer, including La Seu Cathedral and Es Baluard Museum.
The hotel is also a great choice for those travelling on business or attending an event at the Palma’s Convention Centre, as it is next door and you can easily access it via an indoor bridge.
Room Features
Nothing can beat the feeling of checking into a fresh hotel room for the first time.
This is especially true when staying at such a high-quality hotel like Meliá Palm Bay because you know you won’t be disappointed.
When we opened the door of our top floor The Level Superior Room, it was hard to know whether to first gaze at the sleek Scandi-style decor or the panoramic views of the Balearic Sea from the window.
The room offers a king-size bed, a flat-screen TV, a private bathroom and a spacious working area. It also has tea and coffee facilities, a minibar, and a safe for storing valuables.
Now let’s talk about the bed. To say it’s comfortable is an understatement. Every night, I was enveloped in this cosy, cushioned cocoon (aka my very own duvet) from which I never wanted to leave. (No wonder they call them DreamMaker mattresses!)
The bathroom is luxurious and stocked with high-quality amenities but as if this weren’t enough, there’s a choice of an excellent rainfall shower and a bathtub where you can relax after a long day of sightseeing.
If you’d like to do some work, you don’t just sit at any old boring hotel desk. You can move around by sitting on a chair that has a writing table, a sofa or a Pilates ball. There’s also plenty of light coming in through the panoramic windows during the day and good lighting at night.
The staff
Let me warn you that guests staying at The Level get extra treats, so I have to say I’m a bit biased because anyone who delivers local food and drinks to my door wins my heart instantly. But jokes aside, from the reception to the spa and restaurant, the staff were very friendly and super helpful, always ensuring we were having a comfortable stay.
Fast Wi-Fi
I’m a language teacher, and a lot of times I work while I’m away. If I want to work remotely while travelling stress-free, I have to ensure I’ll stay somewhere where there’s a fast Wi-Fi connection, so I can teach my classes. Wi-Fi was included in the fee and accessible in all areas of the hotel, so I didn’t have any issues doing work or video calls during my stay.
Restaurant and Bar
Trasluz Restaurant is where you head for a feast-like buffet breakfast in the morning or a casual meal and drinks. The menu of this restaurant has a selection of modern dishes that combine Mallorcan flavours with the best of international cuisine and caters to varied dietary requirements.
Open only during summer, the Rooftop Pool Bar on the 7th floor is the place to be if you want to take a dip in the outdoor swimming pool, sip a cocktail and enjoy amazing sunsets with views over Palma Bay.
The Spa
Each guest booked at any of The Level rooms receives a complimentary water treatment ritual to be enjoyed at the hotel’s YHI Spa during their stay.
We decided to book an afternoon at the hotel’s spa on our last day because, after hosting a week-long event in Palma, we couldn’t think of a better way to treat ourselves than to have some downtime by the pool.
When we arrived at the spa, we were greeted by a friendly receptionist who provided us with all the info we needed to make the most of our time there, and, with the sight of an inviting swimming pool through the glass door behind her, we couldn’t wait to jump in.
The spa’s central area includes a lovely pool with a hot tub section and a cascade shower. There are also other facilities on site such as a sauna, a Turkish bath and a treatment room where you can get some extra TLC.
From the calming sound of the water to the mood lighting and elegant design, the spa atmosphere feels relaxing, intimate and indulging to all senses.
The water ritual is to be done independently and at your own pace, so we followed the suggested order which was to have a cold shower, go under the ice bucket and end the circuit with relaxing aromatherapy and chromotherapy showers.
When our skin started to get wrinkly, reminding us of how much time we’d spent in the water, we put on our very cosy robes provided by the spa and relaxed on one of the comfortable loungers by the poolside.

Overview
If you want to stay at a modern and comfortable hotel in a convenient location, look no further. As I said earlier, there are some hotel chains where you know you’ll be well looked after, and that’s definitely the case with the Meliá Palma Bay.
Prices
We had to move to another hotel after our stay and ended up checking into a much inferior property at around the same price bracket, which means that Meliá Palma Bay provides an elevated service without a huge price tag. Make sure to check their website for more information and inclusions that you’d get in each of the rooms available.
